Die Young And Deeskee
Die Young is a core member of the world-renowned LA based hip-hop crew The Shape Shifters (alongside AWOL One, Existereo, Circus, LA JAE, Akuma, Liferexall, Radioinactive and Rob One (RIP)).
As the man behind the LA2thebay consortium, Deeskee is the West Coast Underground impresario/godfather. But, first and foremost, Deeskee is one of the most respected beatmakers of the far West.
"Ravish", as a concept album, is the perfect platform for Die Young (The Shapeshifters) to spit his unique style of rock ready gruff emcee vocals mixed with his vampire hunter persona in search of the living dead. This album was produced and written while watching a number of horror movie scenes from films that had no soundtrack to support the macabre action taking place during pivotal points of said films, “I studied the hell out of the placement and execution of incidental music and soundtrack music in films to figure out how the feel of each scene was dictated musically and I ran with that formula. I saw a documentary that showed Claudio Simonetti scoring the film Suspiria. He was watching the film on a screen in his studio and going along with the scenes to find the mood while playing the music. Instead of a screen I had a story line to follow, and Die wrote a cool story,” concedes the albums producer Deeskee. Ravish becomes a realized concept alum in that each song is meant to play along with the movie scenes they were written for, as opposed to music being written as part of a soundtrack. Deeskee and Die Young wanted to use the movie scenes as inspiration without actually playing or sampling anything from the films, as samples straight from the movies themselves would take away from the originality of their audible “movie”. Deeskee and Die Young have decided to add their talents to the best original horror movie never seen: Ravish. The title track: Ravish, finds Die Young taking on the persona of a sociopath seductively sneaking into a female listeners bedroom through the open windows that are the stereo speakers. A lyrical raping ensues, “As soon as your eyes flutter you can see me, as soon as you yell for your mother, you can feel me, cornered in your room no one can help you, your just a portion of what’s wrapped around my finger.” The album also features strong appearances by Los Angeles heavyweights: 2mex, Busdriver, Akuma, Life-rexall, Existereo, AWOL One, and Xololanxinxo.
